Chapter Four
The Gringos buy Property

As reported earlier, we had placed an option on a 2 ½ acre hillside, (1 hectare) near Grecia, Costa Rica. This property is planted in prime coffee and will be continued in production less the house site. We closed on this property on the 21st and are moving forward on our timetable. Before coming down here, we estimated 3 months to find a property, and 12 months to build a home. We may shave some time off the final home construction, but as our architect said, "it's better to take all the time we need in our design before we start construction, 'cause changes are less costly on the computer than they are in undoing construction"

30 DAY PROGRESS REPORT

1. Still living in a house in Atenas, but will be moving to a new rental house within sight of our new property in Grecia around the end of the month. This will be our last move until we move into our new home sometime next year.
2. Closed on our property in Grecia on the 21st.
3. Have identified an architect to start developing site plan and drawings for house while we are on vacation.
4. Spanish and Pilates lessons suspended for two weeks so we can visit our boys. Leaving on the 29th for Mexico City, then Key West to visit both boys and pick up all of the stuff we can’t get here in Costa Rica and had shipped to Key West. Back in Costa Rica on the 14th of next month.

Time to sign off, but before I do, a short note on retirement and paradise. Neither is for sissies!! Having made this statement, I will tell you that I just confirmed travel reservations for a much needed vacation from paradise. We are leaving the 29th for a trip to Mexico City to visit peter and his family and then back to Key West to see Robert and Wendy before heading back here.
